Aglianico del Vulture DOCG ‘Le Drude’ 2013, Basilicata
35,00€
Paradigmatic. That’s how you’d best define ‘Le Drude’ in the wider aglianico-context. Michele Laluce’s is, in fact, a perfectly conceived wine, a wonderful red and a sound testimony both of the territory and wine yard where it was produced, as well as of the work of the person that imagined and produced. When the family production was passed on to Michele Laluce in 2001, he took control of all parts of the production, from the manual work in the wine yard to commercialising the wine. Their roughly six hectares of grapes are situated at about 400 metres of altitude, naturally on volcanic soil which is rich in clay and limestone. The aglianico dominates the production, which is carried out in absolute respect of the environment, relying mostly on green manure and using copper, sulphur and fertiliser only when necessary. Laluce prioritises quality over quantity and for his wines, he only uses selected grapes with rich and concentrated taste, cultivated without ever losing sight of the end goal; true expressions of what the season and the territory can offer.
Compact ruby, a striking aroma that combines small black berries with elegant notes of flowers. The volcano has left its stamp in ferrous and brackish scents. This is a full-bodied, powerful wine, generous in its taste, the tannins are amalgamated in the structure and the acidity is optimal; both of which are elements that secure this wine a long life. Black fruits give the wine a wonderful persistency, as do delicate spices and the typical sapid taste of the area.
